- Description: Cetus added native USDC routing through Mayan. Two quote checks show why the amount that arrives depends on which chain users start from.

Crypto researcher 0xPain argued on November 7 that Cetus’s new native USDC route could make it easier to move money into Sui without juggling a separate bridge. The author also pointed out that execution still depends on the route. BTC PEERS checked Mayan’s quotes in both directions between Solana and Sui and found that reversing the same 100 USDC transfer changed the expected payout.

[Cetus announced on November 5](https://x.com/CetusProtocol/status/2118168334600679825?ref=btcpeers.com) that its cross-chain swap interface supports Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol V2 through Mayan. On a CCTP route, USDC is burned on the source chain and minted on the destination chain after Circle provides an attestation. The recipient gets native USDC issued by Circle on the destination chain.

## What changed when the route was reversed

Just after 08:32 UTC on November 8, the [Mayan quote API](https://docs.mayan.finance/integration/quote-api?ref=btcpeers.com) estimated 99.945198 USDC on Sui for 100 USDC sent from Solana. Reversing the route with the same input amount produced an estimate of 99.560470 USDC on Solana. Both requests used a 1% slippage setting and requested no destination gas drop. The check used the public Mayan API and stopped at the quote stage.

Circle [publishes its own CCTP fee rules](https://developers.circle.com/cctp/concepts/fees?ref=btcpeers.com). Those rules describe the transfer protocol, while the Mayan quote estimates what the recipient gets through the full route. That is why the USDC label on both sides gives an incomplete picture of the cost.

For someone moving USDC to use on another chain, the practical comparison is the expected and minimum amounts shown for that direction and size. The two snapshots show why those figures are worth checking separately even when the asset stays the same.
