Movemaker Launches $2 Million Grant Program for Aptos Developers in Hong Kong

According to a press release published on our website, Movemaker, the official community organization of the Aptos Foundation, has launched a $2 million grant program and opened a new co-working space in Hong Kong. The organization announced these initiatives on March 18, 2025, as part of its mission to grow the Aptos blockchain ecosystem in Chinese-speaking regions.
The grant program will provide financial, strategic, and technical support to projects building on the Aptos blockchain. The program targets specific development areas including DeFi, AI, payment solutions, stablecoins, and real-world assets. Movemaker has allocated $2 million for the first phase of this program.
"Strong community is the only way for Web3 to fulfill the promise of permissionless networks and decentralized economies," said Ash Pampati, Head of Ecosystem at Aptos Foundation. He added that physical environments like the new Hong Kong space are "game-changers" for builders in the industry.
The newly opened Aptos Space will serve as a collaboration hub in Hong Kong where grant recipients can work and connect. The space will host regular meetups and developer events aimed at attracting both local and global Web3 talent to the Aptos ecosystem.
Hong Kong's strategic position as a financial hub with a separate regulatory system from mainland China makes it ideal for blockchain growth. Despite China's 2021 cryptocurrency ban, recent data shows Chinese authorities hold approximately 194,000 BTC, nearly double the United States' reserves of 112,189 BTC.
Movemaker has outlined several key initiatives for 2025, including:
- An Ambassador Program to build a network of champions
- Two large-scale builder events to unite Chinese-speaking and global Web3 talent
- Partnerships with government bodies, media, and community leaders
- Regular online events and AMAs for community engagement
Backed by millions in funding from the Aptos Foundation, Movemaker aims to be the official representative of Aptos in Chinese-speaking markets. The organization was co-launched by Ankaa Labs and BlockBooster to accelerate adoption of the Aptos protocol.
