Meta rolls out NFT sharing capabilities on Facebook and Instagram to all US users
Meta has updated its NFT sharing feature on Facebook and Instagram to allow US-based users to connect their wallets and share their digital collectibles with friends and followers.
According to the official announcement on Thursday, users of the social media platforms will be able cross-post their NFTs. Following the official rollout, Instagram and Facebook users in the US can connect crypto wallets like Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase, and Dapper Wallet to share digital collectibles minted on Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow.
The official rollout comes a few months after news of Meta’s plans to support NFTs first broke in January 2022. In March, Zuckerberg confirmed the company’s interest in integrating NFTs on Instagram and Facebook, and in May, Instagram began testing its NFT features with a small group of US users. Tests on Facebook began in June.
In August, the company launched NFT support on Instagram in 100 countries to select users. Now, everyone in these 100 countries where digital collectibles are available on Instagram can access the feature.
Meta intends to reinforce its presence in the crypto domain with its latest rollout. The social media giant is further planning to launch new crypto-based projects. There have been reports that Meta is working on a custom animation feature for NFTs posts and digital collectibles.
