Spotify hiring people for crypto payments, Facebook’s Diem included

Spotify recently announced a couple of job listings under its Payments department, which states “day-to-day interactions with the Diem Association.”

Recently, reports stated that Facebook would soon be launching its long due project Libra with a new name Diem. It will be a stablecoin set-up that will probably go live in January 2021.

After this news came in, it was seen that Spotify, the music streaming giant, is trying to get people on board to everyday interactions with the Diem Association and other cryptocurrency-related enterprises. Specifically, there are two Associate Director position openings under the Payments department, that majorly focuses on:

  • Strategy & Innovation (The Diem and Crypto Enterprise mentions were for this role)
  • Strategy & Planning

On the other hand, the exact description of the job stated,

“This role will report to the Director, Payments Strategy & Innovation and will play a key part in defining and implementing Spotify’s payments strategy as well as leading Spotify’s activity within the Libra stablecoin project and wider digital asset & cryptocurrency space.”

The description further included that it will cover seeking out new opportunities in different sectors, such as Blockchains, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), Distributed Ledger Technology, Stablecoins, Cryptocurrencies, etc. However, it is still not decided whether Spotify will include Diem as one of the payment methods or not.
