On May 31, 2021, Marik Hazan, a well-known investor and the founder of Tabula Rasa Ventures, a Venture Capital company specializing in investing in the developing psychedelics market, issued the first NFT of conscious awareness.

New uses for Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are being created regularly as the popularity of NFTs continues to rise. Hazan thinks that the last frontier of economic markets will allow anybody to directly feel another's "state of being" when new technologies like Neuralink, VR, and others come online. According to Hazan,

"Qualia, or states of consciousness, will be the most valuable resource in the future. Even though we are in the midst of a digital revolution, people will want to meditate like the Dalai Lamas and innovate like Elon Musk and feel like they've taken MDMA."

In the previous year, the price of NFTs has risen dramatically, with hundreds of digital artworks fetching millions of dollars each. Even though the NFT business is increasing, Hazan's NFT costs a lot of money.

Hazan further elaborates on his belief,

"I agree that it is expensive. Even if nobody buys it today, I believe that organizations like Flamingo DAO or Christie's recognize that art is an effort to represent an individual's conscience and are interested in the NFT art environment. Using this NFT, the first effort at capturing the 'source code' of a work of art has been made. Mona Lisa picture by Da Vinci, Basquiat's debut artwork. In my opinion, the emergence of a qualia art movement, with its power to record and express states of consciousness, is worth at least $100 million."

Hazan recognizes that an EEG may not be a comprehensive portrayal of a state of consciousness. However, he does maintain that a brain state is a critical component of the overall picture.

According to Hazan, the first cave painting inspired his art. He iterated as thus:

"As long as we're here, we're going to start integrating and migrating into a digital environment. We should expect to see markets for states of consciousness development, and I would not be shocked if qualia were as openly available for purchase and sale in the future as the artwork is now. NFT has shown that which will be a widespread practice in future decades."
